Science Interest (Past) |
Since 2012, I have involved in developing second generation of bioethanol production from biomass. Some pretreatment method has been developed such as microwave pretreatment, biological pretreatment LHW pretreatment, and also chemical pretreatment(organic acid, alkali). Besides that I has involved in pulp and paper research of non woody biomass mainly using white rot fungi in biopulping process. Some publication has been published related with this research activities.
Science Interest (Current) |
Up to now, we are still concerning in bioenergy development from biomass with focus on integrated utilization the part of biomass. In point of view, the application of biorefinery concept, we investigate the conversion of lignin polymer as waste in pretreatment process to convert into value added product such as biosurfactant. Some variations and synthesis process are developing to obtain the best method to produce biosurfactant lignin based. Besides the biosurfactant, we are doing in developing the active food packaging research based on paper. We concern in using coating method to create paper packaging that having antimicrobial properties. |

Science Interest (Future) |
In future, I am interest research in bioenergy area mainly from biomass, conversion lignin into chemicals, also biopolymer that can be used in extraction of gold. We hope can give the significant contribution to help in decreasing the utilization of mercury in gold extraction. In the community gold mining in Indonesia, the mercury can be found widely even though the effect of this utilization has been already realized. However the low cost production is one of the factor affecting this choice. By offering the biosurfactant lignin based that can be converted from waste we hope it can decrease the rate of consumption of mercury in community gold mining
