Specialty | I have background in multiple disciplines with extensive experience in genomics, ecology, and honeybee/grass/crop field experiments. My experience ranges from BigData analyses, working with high-performance computation UNIX systems to mentoring students. I am currently working on reference-free sequencing of complex genomes that integrates short read sequencing with Oxford Nanopore long read sequencing. This approach combines strengths of two sequencing technologies and is a new promising tool to discover new large structural elements in honeybee genomes. It is believed that a significant portion of large-scale structural variants (SV) has been "invisible" with the previous reference-based re-sequencing. I look forward to developing computational tools to facilitate long reads-based reference-free sequencing of honeybee genome and study association between large-scale SVs with productivity and pathogen resistance traits in honeybees. | ||||
