Science Interest (Past) |
My previous project, “Targeting Schistosome Cholinesterases for Vaccine & Drug Development,” examined the biochemistry of these enzymes in the nervous system of schistosome parasites. I used tools like enzyme kinetics, recombinant DNA technology, transcriptomic analysis, RNA interference, and cutting-edge CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology. Subsequently, tested the vaccine efficacy and druggability these enzymes in animal models. I then published my dissertation findings across three manuscripts in PLOS Pathogens and PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, and Vaccines.
Science Interest (Current) |
My current research focuses on making a point-of-care molecular diagnostic tool (POC) to diagnose parasitic diseases such as opisthorchiasis using lateral flow immunochromatographic tests based on antigens identified using various omics technologies, including mass spectrometry.
